The Fragility of Collie’s Just Transition
Drawing on research into one union effort to drive a just transition in the Western Australian energy generation sector, this seminar examines how unions positioned themselves as agents of change. They deployed power to secure worker participation, genuine consultation, and training packages.
However, these gains remain fragile—expectations and timelines for transition are ultimately controlled by capital and the state, limiting the durability of worker protections.
