CHCH Book Launch: Meditations of a Landscape Architect by David Irwin
Celebrate the Ōtautahi Christchurch launch of David Irwin’s Meditations of a Landscape Architect, published by Six Point Press in association with Isthmus .
Meditations of a Landscape Architect brings together essays and photographs by Isthmus Group founder David Irwin, drawing on four decades of practice. Moving between design and everyday life, he considers what matters, what we choose to change and what might be better left alone.
Copies will be available for purchase on the evening.
The evening will begin with doors open and drinks from 5.30pm, followed by speeches at 6pm.
David Irwin is a landscape architect, a founding principal of Isthmus Group and a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Tuia Pito Ora. Across four decades of practice, he has helped shape some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant and challenging landscape architecture and urban design projects.
His work has involved design leadership across complex multidisciplinary teams and spans urban development, town centres, coastal landscapes, public spaces, and residential planning. Alongside leading a design studio and his own professional practice, he has continued to write, photograph, draw and test ideas through the work itself.
Meditations of a Landscape Architect brings some of that thinking together for the first time, documenting an inquiry that continues to be part of his design practice.
