Pavel Pawlikowski (Polish film director)

A special private screening of Polish director Pavel Pawlikowski's Fatherland, winner of Best Director at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. The Ambassadors of Germany and Poland will provide short introductions before the film commences.

Fatherland centres on the relationship between Nobel Prize-winning writer Thomas Mann and his daughter Erika during a 1949 road trip across post-war Germany, exploring themes of identity, family, love and guilt amid post-war European turmoil. Pawlikowski continues his distinctive style from award-winning films Ida and Cold War.
